Sox Lose 5-3
It was a good game with back & forth leads. David Price & Clay Buchholz matched each other pitch for pitch. Will Middlebrooks went deep which was nice to see. But in the end it was the Rays who scratched out 2 sac flies & a bases loaded walk to win the game. Without Longoria & Joyce the Rays only have BJ Upton & Carlos Pena that can hurt you with a long ball. And it was Upton who homered in the 8th to give the Rays a big insurance run. Sox had a few opportunities, like Ells on 2nd with no outs in the top of the 8th, but couldn't plate him. With Gonzalez out & Salty striking out more than making contact, the Sox offense needs someone other than Ortiz to come through. Beckett vs. Shields should be quite a finale to see who wins this series.
