Ugly Road Trip Ends With Another Loss
Swept by the Oakland A's. How often does any team hear that? Another 1-run loss, another good pitching effort down the tubes. This loss comes on a day that David Ortiz hits a milestone, home run #400. 2-5 gets you back into the cellar after a 7-2 homestand had the Sox in 3rd place. The Yankees come into Boston off of a sweep of the Tampa Bay Rays. Other than '04 & '07 it seems like we are always looking up at the Bronx Bombers. I thought CC Sabathia being out, along with no Mariano Rivera, would be the end for the Yankees. But they find a way to have consistency on offense that wins games. A 4-game sweep of the Yankees at home by the Red Sox could put them right back into the playoff race. But I'm not counting on that. I expect 2-2 or .500 just like this season has been to date.
