Sox Punchless in Oakland Again
I stayed awake through the 7th inning stretch with the Sox ahead 2-1. Glad I went to bed & didn't see the 9th inning Little League mistakes that cost the Red Sox & Jon Lester a win. Where is the offense? In 5 of 6 games they have scored 2 runs or less. That gives low-scoring teams like the Mariners & A's a chance to win - which they have done 4 out of 6 times. This is a disastrous west coast swing to end the first half of the season. Nick Punto has to be the worst utility man ever. He dropped a foul pop & could get a crucial bunt down last night. Punto adds zero to the lineup. And the fill-ins have hit the wall with what they can contribute. You can be a glass half full or half empty at the midway point. In a word the Boston Red Sox have been inconsistent throughout the entire first half of 2012. And yet they are still in the hunt for a playoff berth. Go figure! It's a strange year.
