Sox Lose 3 of 4 to Yanks
Another loss last night. The Red Sox limp into the all-star break after a 2-5 west coast trip & a 1-3 home record against the Yankees. At 43-43 you can say that the glass is half full or the glass is half empty. Either way, the first half of the 2012 season is in the books. The first 2 months of the season saw the Red Sox try to reach the .500 mark. The last 6 weeks had the Sox up as many as 5 games above .500 & in 3rd place after a 7-2 homestand before crashing to a 3-8 record over the final 2 weeks. In a word - inconsistency. Inconsistent starting pitching. Inconsistent offense. They just can't seem to put the 2 together for any extended period of time - which is what good teams do. Add in an inability to win 1-run games & that's the Reader's Digest version of the first half of 2012. Perhaps the return of Ells, Crawford, Buchholz & Middlebrooks will help to keep the offense more consistent & get to more balls to keep the pitchers more aggressive in the strike zone. Only time will tell. I'm ready for a break too.
