Yankees 10, Red Sox 8

On the west coast it was no offense. In game 1 against NYY it was no pitching. Josh Beckett gave up 5 first inning runs. The bullpen coughed up an 8-7 lead in the 7th. In an otherwise back & forth game that was entertaining to watch, the end result was a Red Sox loss 10-8. This was another winnable game, like several recent ones on the west coast. Several outstanding efforts by individuals like Salty, Nava & Punto that allowed the Sox to climb back into the game after being down by 5 went for not. It was as if Jerry Remy was reading my mind when Nick Punto came up with the tying runs on base & 2 out in the 7th or 8th. Valentine did not pinch hit for him with Middlebrooks or Shoppach & Punto made a weak ground ball out to end the threat. Such is the life of a Red Sox fan these days. Inconsistency on the field rules.
