Yankees Squeak By 5-4
It came down to a final at bat by Jacoby Ellsbury for a 2nd night in a row. This time Soriano got him to ground out to end the game. Too bad. It's fun to see the Yankees squirm as they watched Baltimore win again. If the Yankees do make the playoffs, not as AL East champs but an AL wild card, anything can happen in a 1-game winner take all playoff game. It would be great to see both Baltimore & Tampa Bay catch fire these last few weeks & really press the Yankees to make the playoffs at all. Oakland & the LA Angels are making bids at the 2 wild cards as well. That makes 4 teams other than the Yankees for 3 spots. The arithmetic (as former Ptresident Clinton says) indicates the Yankees have a 60% chance of being one of the 3 out of 5 possible teams in the playoffs. That also means there's a 40% chance they don't make it.
