Starting Jobs Next Year for Ciriaco & Gomez?

Another bad outing by Dice-K, which means nothing, in a 9-2 loss last night. There is a fight shaping up for infield positions, though. Pedro Ciriaco has been a regular fill-in for Will Middlebrooks at 3B since his wrist injury. Jose Iglesias has been getting time at SS. And Mauro Gomez has looked better defensively at 1B. Ciriaco could be the regular SS or the utility guy in 2013. Iglesias hasn't proved that he can hit big league pitching yet, so I don't see him as the everyday SS. Maybe he has a shot to be the utility guy if Ciriaco becomes the everyday SS. Perhaps 1B becomes a platoon situation, like it is now, between Gomez & Loney. I think that Gomez has the better, more powerful bat. It would be interesting to see what production 500 at bats would result in 2013 for Gomez. These are some of the issues that will be watched by management over the next few weeks to see what happens in the off season. It hard to judge a clutch player, though, since these games are meaningless.
