The Series for Last Place
While the exuberance of the Beckett-Gonzalez-Crawford-Punto trade is wearing off after a 1-8 road trip tonight's opening game of a series against the Toronto Blue Jays is the first of three to stay out of the AL East cellar. The Orioles play meaningful baseball at Camden Park against their co-leader New York Yankees. And Tampa Bay is only 2 1/2 off the O's-Yankees pace. But we are playing this weekend to stay ahead of the Jays in 4th place. No doubt job evaluations are being performed. Who will be at short next year? Who will play first? Who will be in the outfield? All these questions may be determined in the next 3 weeks of games.
