Sox Lose, Peavy Traded, Carp Wants Out
Many moving parts yesterday. Sox lose 3-0, even though a review was waived of a pick-off at 2B in the 4th inning by manager John Farrell. Ortiz is wondering why Farrell didn't challenge. How about you stick to offense, big man, & drive in a few runs & keep your mouth quiet! Zero runs means no win regardless of whether you challenge or not. Players should play, not manage. Another tough luck loss for John Lackey who pitched well enough to win, just like Jon Lester the day before. Earlier on Saturday, Jake Peavy got moved to the San Fran Giants in return for 2 AAA pitchers. Good, start stockpiling arms for future trades. Allen Webster gets his chance to crack the starting rotation today in place of Peavy. Also earlier on Saturday, a story broke about Mike Carp wanting to get moved to a team where he would get more playing time. Not an unreasonable demand, given his limited time this year. Expect to see a different roster by next weekend as the Sox continue to listen to offers & act on them.
