There's just too much water under the bridge. Johnny Damon decides to stay in Detroit with a team that put him on waivers. That's how much Damon dislikes the way his career ended in Boston.
I guess the knife cuts both ways. After 4 excellent seasons with the Red Sox the undisputed leader of the idiots in 2004 still can't get over the 4-years, $40 million offer by the Red Sox to stay. He went to New York for much more money &, in the process, missed out on another World Series win in 2007.
Claiming Damon off waivers was an interesting move by the Sox. It shows that Theo & Co. are still looking for help down the stretch. And it shows that they haven't thrown the towel in just yet.
Who's next? Manny?
