Ellsbury Out, Petey Ready to Return

It's another week of more comings & goings for the Red Sox roster.

Jacoby Ellsbury re-injured his ribs on Saturday night & is placed on the DL for the 3rd time this year. It would be a long shot to think he will play again this year, but his physician in LA will see him on Monday. What a wasted season for such a promising talent!

Taking Ellsbury's roster spot last night was Michael Bowden, a fresh arm for a worn out bullpen. Luckily, they did not need to use him in a pitcher's duel on Saturday night. Tito may need him today if Dice-K falters in the afternoon Texas heat today.

Mike Cameron said rest has done his ailing sports hernia a lot of good. He will make a rehab start or two in Pawtucket later this week. There's a guy that just won't quit.

And Dustin Pedroia made a successful start with the PawSox last night, going 1-3 & playing 2B. Barring any setbacks when he DH's in his 2nd rehab start today, Petey is ready to return to the Sox lineup on Tuesday when they start a home series versus the Angels. What a morale boost his presence in the lineup will be!

Regardless of their record, you have to take your hats off to every player that has worn the Red Sox uniform this year. We are watching a team that that has overcome & overachieved to this point of the 2010 season. A playoff spot would be icing on the cake.
