Dice-K, Beltre Keys to Sox Win

Dice-K pitched 8-innings of 1-run ball. Adrian Beltre hit a grand slam. Sox win 6-2 to earn a split with Cleveland.

The Sox pick-up a half-game on the idol Yankees & a full game on the Rays who lost. As I said to a friend, you just can't kill them. They won't go away yet.

This win was especially meaningful on a night where the Sox learned they will be without Kevin Youkilis for the rest of the year. Youk joins the other heart-&-soul member of the infield - Dustin Pedroia - on the DL. As I mentioned to my podcast buddy Gaff, the Sox should get a lot of credit for the performance they have turned in this year, regardless of the playoffs. They should have died at least 9 times like a cat by now, but the Sox are still very involved in the playoff race.

A tough road trip starts tonight in New York for 4 games. Like the west coast road trip in July, this 10-game trip through New York, Toronto & Texas will be huge.
