Rays Win Again 5-3

It started off as a promising weekend with a 3-1 win behind Jon Lester. It went downhill on Saturday with an extra-innings 3-2 loss. And it turned ugly when the Sox pitching couldn't hold a 3-1 lead last night & end up losing 5-3. The Sox had leads on both Saturday & Sunday, but Buchholz & Lackey gave up HR's late in each game & the pen couldn't hold the Rays in check.

At 6 1/2 games out with 31 left it will take an incredible September of 22 to 23 wins in order for the Sox to dethrone either the Rays or Yankees from the playoffs. Possible? Yes, anything is possible. Probable? No, since this team has put together only 1 win streak of 6 games in a row all year.

Let's let the math play out. Either the Yankees or Rays, both tops in the majors with 80 wins, need to have a bad week for the Sox to get back into it. We need some help now.
