After a 16-2 opening game loss Buchholz, Bard & Dubront shut the door on the Blue Jays offense today. Sox win 5-0 & take 2 out of 3.
It looked like rain would be the winner today with almost 3 hours of delays -- about 2 hours in a delayed start & another hour during the game. There were many hearty Red Sox fans that braved a 1:35 original start time & endured until the last out at 7:00 PM. Way to go fans!
Even with the in-game rain delay, Clay Buchholz was able to return to the mound & pitch 6 solid innings. Bill Hall added his 17th homer of the year & Big Papi chugged the bases for his first triple of the year. The Sox offense added 2 big runs in the bottom of the 8th to ice the game & save Pap from making an appearance in the 9th.
A 4-2 homestand thus far is helping the Sox keep pace with the Rays. With Seattle coming to town for 3 games I expect Lackey & Beckett to step it up. The Mariners are the team we need to sweep.
