The St. Louis Cardinals are first to fill their vacant manager's position with former player Mike Matheny. Matheny has little to no managerial experience & he beat out a diverse group of candidates which included Terry Francona.
At 41 Matheny takes over for 16-year manager Tony LaRussa. I respected Matheny as a player & just maybe he is the right fit for the Cards job. No one would be able to replace LaRussa, so why not move in the opposite direction.
Let's hope the Sox can finalize their manager's spot soon as well.
