In The News: LaRussa & Sabathia

Tony LaRussa is quiting on top. The 67-year old manager of the Cardinals is calling it quits after winning the 2011 World Series. Tony did things his way, as evidenced by the shoe-polished jet black hair at 67-years old. Nobody's moss is that black at 67. But I give him credit for having a sustained winning career as a manager. You can't argue with success.

CC is returning to the Yankees with an extra $30 million in his pocket. The Yankees were probably bidding against themselves, but losing Sabathia would spell disaster for their future playoff runs. Even though CC was not as dominant as in the past, he is still an above-average pitcher. His age & weight may start catching up to him in his 30's as he continues to pitch 200+ innings every year. There are only so many bullets in every pitcher's arm. Still he was a necessary signing for the Yankees.
