Mike Carp turned into a super sub last year. No one will forget hit pinch-hit grand slam in Tampa Bay. On defense he was adequate in left field & adequate at first base. On offense a left-handed bat off the bench is invaluable. And should an injury occur & the Sox need an outfielder, 1B or DH Carp is the guy. Victorino missed time last year. Napoli had a foot problem. And Ortiz is old. Carp could fill-in for any of those starters. He is part of a deep bench & roster. I'm glad that the Sox have him for another year. You never know what's in store over 162 games & Carp is a good insurance policy.
