Dempster to Sit Out 2014 Season

There goes your 6 starters on the 1st day of Spring Training! Ryan Dempster shocked people when he announced that he will not play in 2014 & foefeit his $13 million salary. Kind of a shocker as no word had leaked prior to his decision on Sunday. That means that The Sox now have their normal 5 starters in Lester, Lackey, Buccholz, Peavy & Doubront. It also gives young arms like Allen Webster, Brandon Workman & Rubby de la Rosa a chance to step in should any 1 of these 5 arms go down during the year. If this is it for Ryan Dempster, at least he can say that he went out as a World Series champ after 16 years of service.
