One-Run Games
If we look closely at the Sox results for April, you can see how important 1-run games were in the won-lost picture. Of their 22 games in April a total of 7 were decided by 1 run, or just about 1/3. The Red Sox were victorious in 5 out of those 7 games. That 5-2 record in close contests helped the Sox to a 12-10 record for the month. Had the Sox reversed their results, their record for the month would have fallen to 9-13. My point is that 1-run games will make or break the season this year. They certainly played an important role in April. I expect them to continue to be just as important over the next 5 months. If we keep going 5-2, things will work out just fine.
