What I Learned From Spring Training
Spring training is a boom to those cities in Florida & Arizona that house teams. The Cactus League has set an all-time attendance mark in 2015. New ballparks have all the amenities of a big league stadium, just a smaller number of seats. And there's nothing like bringing a blanket, setting on the grass past the outfield fences & letting the kids run around. Speaking of kids, I disagree with those who would say that baseball is not the national pastime. I see brothers & sisters bringing their parents to a game. I see very elderly couples walking carefully to their seat & then scoring the game. I see a little boy's eyes light up when he is given a foul ball caught by an adult. I see autographs from players still being coveted by all ages of fans. Baseball has no age limit. It's for young & old alike. It's still America's pastime to me.
