Victorino Proving He Can Still Play
A nice running catch by Shane Victorino last night on a ball over his head shows us signs of that Gold Glove from 2013. If Vic doesn't get to that ball, it's a 6-4 game. Victorino seems healthy, except for the fact that he is no longer hitting left-handed. He still has speed. He still plays a mean RF. There is no chance that the Sox re-sign him for 2016, but Vic is giving the Sox a veteran presence to help 2 new outfielders in Mookie Betts & Hanley Ramirez. He is also giving Rusney Castillo more at-bats in AAA before joining the big team. And Rusney gives the Sox insurance should injuries occur to Vic, Betts, Craig or Nava. As Jerry Remy said last night, it's pretty increedible that Victorino is healthy again so quickly after back surgery. The guy likes to play & he plays hard. Maybe we all were too quick about trading him away. I know I was. Sorry, Vic.
