Lester for Cespedes for Porcello

I was thinking today about how Ben Cherington got a top-tier pitcher like Rick Porcello & locked him up for several years during his prime.  You might say it was a trade of one pitcher for another - Jon Lester for Rick Porcello with Yoenis Cespedes as the player in-between.  Moneywise, Porcello makes about $17 million less than Lester in 2015 & about $6 million less each of the next 4 years.  So the Sox saved over $40 million & they have a younger version of Lester to anchor a staff for the next several years.  Cespedes was never going to fit into the Red Sox plans since he would only play LF & he seemed determined to go the free agency route.  He gets to play his option year in Detroit where he can compliment Cabrera & Martinez.  Cespedes may get a long-term deal from the Tigers, but most likely he will try for big money in free agency.  To each their own.  But I think these were great trades by Ben & we get a good return on the dollars.
