Joe West, Retire Please

It didn't take long for Cowboy Joe West to insert himself - once again - into a controversy by calling Torii Hunter out on a check swing to end the game for the Minnesota Twins.  Hunter asked West to check with the 1st base umpire, but West refused.  Hunter went on a bit of a rant aftter the game, saying West probably had dinner reservations.  My question - why is Joe West still an umpire?  He is horribly out of shape.  In my view he has said things to the detriment of baseball.  Yet he still gets to umpire year after year.  A good umpire is one that you don't notice.  But every year Cowboy Joe gets his face into some controversy to show he's the man.  Well, Joe, your past your prime - way past your prime - & it's time to do everyone in baseball a favor by retiring.  So retire, Joe, just retire.
