It's All About Runs
The Red Sox offense last year was below average for sure. However, this year is another story, at least in the early goings of the 2015 season. The Red Sox have scored 43 runs in 7 games, or just over 6 runs per game. Opponents have scored 33 runs for a +10 differential. If we delete the 14-4 loss on Sunday night, the run differential is +22. So other than 1 bad game over the 1st 7 outings, the Red Sox are scoring more &, as a result, winning more. The game of baseball is all about runs. Not any other stats is as germaine as runs -- those scored versus those allowed. The pitching has been stable. Defense has been above average. And offense has led the way to a 5-2 start. This formula may get the Sox to the trade deadline where decisions will have to be made about improving the team's chances for a long playoff run.
