Race for CF Back On
Rusney Castillo got his first official spring training at bat & it was a good one, a 3-run homer to left center. Rusney has declared himself 100% fit & pain free, meaning that he & Mookie Betts will be competing once again for the CF spot on opening day. Most likely, Daniel Nava & Allen Craig will spell Shane Victorino & Hanley Ramirez a few times each week. Both are nice pieces to have on your bench, especially since Craig seems to be hitting again & Nava's lefty bat evens out the lineup. Either Mookie & Rusney could return to Pawtucket for a little seasoning as the real season begins in April. If all outfielders stay healthy, I would be surprised if Shane Victorino is still with the team in May. He will probably get traded since his skill set matches Castillo's & Betts'. With Vic gone Mookie could move over to RF on a more regular basis. It's a numbers game, but a positive problem for Red Sox management.
