Pace of Play Working
2 hours & 29 minutes. That's how long it took for my first spring training game yesterday. Cleveland 4, Cincinnati 2. Pace of play rule changes are working. One of the best measures is the clock between innings. As soon as the 3rd out is may, a clock in CF comes on with 2 minutes, 25 seconds & it starts counting down. Pitchers & catchers get out to the field faster so all the warm-up pitches can be thrown & by zero the 1st batter of the inning is ready to go. Several times the inning started with time left on the clock. The batters keeping 1 foot in the box helped as well. If anything, it seems as though pitchers could have worked a little quicker. But a 2 1/2 hour game was plenty fast enough to keep my attention. I think these rule changes are going to help more than people think.
