Brian Johnson - Underrated?
When you think of left-handed pitchers for Boston you immediately think of Jon Lester & rightfully so. Now that Lester is in Cubbie-ville the next lefty you think about in a Red Sox uniform is not Wade Miley, but Henry Owens & again rightfully so. Owens has made a splash by dominating at every level. But there's another guy with less press in Brian Johnson that is also impressing Red Sox personnel this spring. And while Edwardo Rodriguez is another lefty with up-side I like the fact that Johnson is a converted pitcher who is excelling at his new position. At 24 years old Johnson is a name that we Red Sox fans shouldn't forget. If Buchholz or Masterson or another starter should fall, don't be surprised to see Johnson get a spot start with the big team. He is just another 20-something in a stacked minor league system that the Red Sox have amassed. Great to have numbers! And Johnson is a good number to have.
