Spring Training - Don't Believe Results

Here we go again. Another spring training camp is almost upon us. Sports writers weary for sun & warmth will be writing stories about well known & lesser known players who do well throughout February & March. Years ago we had JD Drew knocking the cover off the ball. There was JBJ just 2 years ago. There were columns about Grady Sizemore. How about when Big Papi wasn't hitting in March? On & on. And, as each year unfolded in the regular season in April, we were surprised when performances from spring training didn't translate into similar performances then. Don't be fooled again this year. Spring training is there to be enjoyed for what it is -- training; exhibition; not real games. We love it because it is a sign that spring is coming, better weather is on the way & the real season is not too far away. The Sox have very few positions up in the air, so February & March is about getting into game shape for the long 6 month marathon of 162. One goal is always to leave Florida healthy. If the Sox accomplish that, I'm OK with anything else that the reporters write about. Remember - just don't believe the results until it counts.
