Sox Are In On Moncada
Yankees versus Red Sox. Alex Rodriguez. Mark Teixiera. WEEI says it may come down to another good old fashion bidding war between the Red Sox & Yankees for the next Cuban phenom Yoan Moncada. The Yankees definitely have the greater need, both to get their roster younger & to get a suitable replacement for Derek Jeter. The Red Sox could give Moncada time to grow into US baseball by starting him in the minors, a la Rusney Castillo. The Sox have stockpiled impressive talent all over the field & Moncada would be another good player to add depth for any potential performance issues from Xander Bogaerts. (I don't think Deven Marrero will be happy with this signing, just like Garin Cecchini with the Panda!) The saying is that you can't have enough good players. And more good players can be used in trade to bring a quality starter or two to Boston. As WEEI says, it's just money. No prospects. Moncada is suppose to make his decision by next week.
