Red Sox Get Moncada

19-year old Yoan Moncada is now a Red Sox. The Sox outbid the Yankees to obtain the 6'2" 205 pound infielder considered to be the best position player to come from Cuba. It took $30 million to sign Moncada & the Sox will owe another $30 million to MLB for exceeding their international signing limit. Who cares? It's just money. Perhaps the best thing about signing Moncada is that the Yankees don't. I like the Sox acquiring young talent, although unproven, versus shelling out $200 million to one player, a la Max Scherzer, who may give you 1 or 2 good years before becoming mediocre for the next 4 or 5. Moncada can play 2B or 3B, but it remains to be seen where he will play in the Sox minor league system where he is expected to be placed for some period of time. I'm surprised that the Sox when all in on Moncada since they have a plethora of position players now. But the saying is you can never have too many good players. And, again, we are staying young while the Yankees are old.
