Ranaudo Traded for Ross
Anthony Ranaudo. Robby Ross. The Red Sox & Rangers exchanged pitchers yesterday. The Rangers get Ranaudo who can add depth to their rotation as a starting pitcher. The Red Sox get a lefty bullpen arm who can get righties out. Neither had a particularly good year in 2014. Ranaudo was inconsistent at the big league level & Ross was wild, giving up a bunch of walks. So you might say the trade was for potential on both sides. Giving up on Ranaudo was do-able since the Sox have a plethora of young arms waiting to develop. Ross had good years out of the pen for Texas in 2012 & 2013, but he just couldn't find the plate in 2014. A change of scenery may make for a fresh start for both.
