Time for Lester to Decide

What's the hold-up? It's a guy named Jon Lester. Lester has completed his tour of interested teams & it's now time to pick one. The latest Sox offer is about the same as the Cubs, 6 years & $130 million. Given the narrow gap in money, Lester now has the choice of returning to Boston with John Farrell or moving to the Windy City with Theo. You would think that the Red Sox have a better chance of making the playoffs annually, so I think the Sox have a slight edge. But now we get to see if the Lester rhetoric about not taking the highest offer is true. If I were the Sox, I would take their offer off the table by Friday. The Lester bottleneck is preventing them from bidding on Scherzer or Shields. Also, the Sox make have trades ready to go as a back-up plan to acquire a #1 like Hamels or Zimmerman or Sale. If Lester signs, they can offer a lesser package via trade to get a #2 or #3 to compliment Buchholz & Kelly. So make a decision, Jon!
