Anthony Varvaro, 30, was traded to Boston for a minor leaguer. Varvaro is a bullpen arm that threw 56 innings for the Braves last year with an ERA under 3.00. Most people see him as a replacement for Burke Badenhop. Marco Hernandez, 21, is the player from the Cubs to finalize the Felix Doubront trade. Hernandez sounds like a Deven Marrero type, good defensive SS still learning how to hit major league pitching. Both guys bring depth to the roster. Varvaro is expected to see time with the big team while Hernandez will need time in the minors. Small moves, but good ones.
