Cespedes for Kennedy
NESN had a story last night that there was interest by the San Diego Padres in a trade of P Ian Kennedy for Yoenis Cespedes. Kennedy was with the Yankees in his younger years. Now 29 Kennedy is a work horse who had thrown 200+ innings 3 times in his career. Last year he was 13-13 for a bad Padres team, 201 innings & a 3.63 ERA. Given the DH, you would think that he would be under a 4.00 ERA in the American League. I guess I'm OK with that, but I was hoping that Cespedes could be packaged with other players to get a Cole Hamels or Johnny Cueto or Jordan Zimmermann. Kennedy is more of a #3 or #4 starter who will give you innings - something every staff needs. As a compliment to Jon Lester, I like it. Without Lester I'd hold Cespedes for a bigger arm.
