Sox Lose Finale 9-5 to Close 2014 Season

Probably fitting that the Red Sox lost game #162 to the Yankees 9-5. The 2014 season comes to an end at 71-91. Most years you would think the Sox would amass a mirror image of 91-71, but not this year. It was obvious from the start that heroes from 2013 couldn't duplicate the same results in 2014. The season ends with Pedroia, Ortiz & Napoli nursing injuries. The final 2 months gave Sox management & fans a look at potential players for the 2015 roster. Ben Cherington can now begin his search for 2 front-line starting pitchers to join Joe Kelly & Clay Buchholz. Ben can also lay the ground work for trade talks as a way to fill one, if not both, pitching needs. The rumors of Giancarlo Stanton will continue throughout the fall & winter. Will Middlebrooks & Nava be back? How about the glut of young pitchers? Is Bogaerts your SS next Year? What to do with Mookie? Lots & lots of questions to be answered before the team arrives in Fort Myers in mid-February. I expect Ben to make a lot of moves & it should be fun to watch over the next 3 months. Good night 2014.
