Daniel Nava - grand slam. Don't you have to root for a guy like Nava who came out of nowhere? Xander Bogaerts - 3-run homer. Mookie Betts & Xander Bogaerts - 5 for 9 in the leadoff & #2 spots. As the season winds down through the final 2 weeks, several players are jockeying for roster spots in 2015. With Brock Holt & Dustin Pedroia out guys like Betts & Nava are sharing the spotlight, along with a revitalized Xander Bogaerts. Will all 3 be on the roster next year? Probably not, especially if the Sox trade for a frontline pitcher & maybe trade for that big guy in Miami. Right now infielders include Middlebrooks, Bogaerts, Pedroia, Napoli, Craig, Holt. Outfielders include Cespedes, Betts, Bradley, Nava, Victorino & Craig again. Add Ortiz as DH. Add Rusney Castillo. Add 2 catchers in Vazquez & Ross or a Ross-type. Add 5 starting pitchers & 7 for the bullpen. That's 27 before any other gyrations to the roster. Some guys have to go. As I've said several times before, the months of November, December & January will be quite interesting for the Red Sox brass as they put a team together to compete in 2015.
