"Dr. Jeckyll" Buck Pitches Shutout
The good Buchholz showed up yesterday & he pitched a complete game shutout against the Tampa Bay Rays. Clay needed only 98 pitches to retire 27 batters, including the last 12 in a row. Jeckyll & Hyde for sure this year. Good luck to the Red Sox for trying to figure this guy out. Injuries. Ineffective starts. Then a couple like yesterday. I guess the Sox have to keep Buck, but not as a #1 or any kind of leader to a young staff. Leave him slated in as a #3 or #4. Buck & Kelly can be the #3 & #4 next year, probably De La Rosa or Ranaudo as #5. Then 2 signings or trades for a #1 & #2. You know the names -- Lester, Scherzer, Sales, Shields, Cueto, Hamels. The offense yesterday was led by Mookie & X-man with 2 hits a piece, then Vazquez & Ortiz with RBI hits. Mookie continues to make his case for a spot on the big roster next year, depending where the Sox decide to play Castillo.
