Sox Get Rusney Castillo for 7 Years, $72 Mil

The Cubans are coming, the Cubans are coming! Fidel must be turning in his grave. We win the bidding war for Rusney Castillo, the Cuban defector who caught the interest of just about every team in MLB. The 27 year old outfielder looks like an impressive specimen of muscle at 5'9" & 205 lbs. So much for no long-term deals by the Red Sox! However, if Castillo is even close to producing like other Cuban defectors to the US - for instance Puig, Abreau, Cespedes, Chapman - his average salary of $10 million + will be the steal of the century. Let's hope the Sox scouts & Ben haven't picked the one lemon in the barrel from Havana. Hey, but it's only money. Look how much it would have cost to sign Stanton long-term or Nelson Cruz. This is a nice, nice signing. Sox have plenty of outfielders & pitchers to trade for front-line pitching in the off-season. Cespedes, Castillo & Craig sure pack a lot more offensive fire-power than Gomes, JBJ & an injured Victorino. Let's get 2015 started!
