Red Sox Swept By Angels
I looked at the lineup put out by John Farrell last night & I said 3 runs or less - max. No Big Papi who got a day off. No Mike Napoli who has back spasms. As it turns out, my guess of 3 runs was generous as the Sox offense could muster only 1 hit of Matt Shoemaker over 7 2/3rds. And of all people, it was Will Middlebrooks who got the lone hit, a double in the bottom of the 7th. Rubby De La Rosa had a nice bounce back effort in limiting the Angels to 2 runs, something Clay Buchholz couldn't do the night before. If I'm the Oakland A's, I'm not too happy with Farrell sitting Ortiz because the big man ran the bases the night before. Now the Angels move on to a bigger series in Oakland this weekend while the Seattle Mariners invade Fenway. The Mariners are in contention for a wild card berth, so expect the M's to pull out all the stops. Gaff & I are going to the game on Saturday.
