Odds & Ends

Here's a few observations. First, why can't pitchers field their position? I've never seen so many balls go through the mound while a pitcher makes little, if any, effort to stab it. If I'm pitching, I'm knocking everything down & no one gets a cheap hit. Same applies on bunts & throws to first. I see terrible mechanics by pitchers. Casey Jannsen last night tries to field a bunt by Brock Holt with his bare hand & he muffed it. Even Jon Lester can't throw overhand to first base. He has to underhand it. I was taught to catch the ball, plant my feet first, don't rush it, then make a good hard throw to first. Second point, doesn't Jeff Samardzija of the A's look like a young Dennis Eckersley? Take a good look next time you see Samardzija. He could pass as the 1980's version of the Eck. Finally, a pet peeve with Fernando Rodney & Michael Pineda wearing their team hats crooked. I'm with Psycho Lyons on this point. It's disrespectful to the game of baseball. Even football polices how players can wear their uniforms. What's wrong with wearing your hat properly & looking like you are a member of a T-E-A-M instead of the "I'm an individual, look at me thing?" Those are just a couple of odds & ends that crossed my mind lately. Let me know if you have any items.
