Cuban Rusney Castillo to Decide Soon

WEEI reports that the Red Sox are one of several teams who have put a blind bid in on Cuban outfielder Rusney Castillo. Castillo is a former teammate of Yoenis Cespedes & Cespedes compares Castillo to a smaller version of Yasiel Puig. Not much is known about the 27 year old who needs to be added to the major league roster by September 1st to be eligible for the playoffs. If the Red Sox are the winning bidder, the Sox would get to keep all of their prospects & have a chance to package them with surplus pitchers into an off-season trade or two for front-line pitching. Given the success of Cubans Puig, Cespedes & Jose Abreau, the Sox may have been inspired enough to throw a bunch of dollars into the pot for Castillo as a way to fix their outfield production woes. We should know the outcome soon.
