Boston Red Sox - Version 2.0

Now that the dust has settled, here's what tonight's lineup could look like: Holt CF, Pedroia 2B, Craig LF, Ortiz DH, Cespedes RF, Napoli 1B, Bogaerts SS, Middlebrooks 3B, Vazquez C. That's a pretty deep lineup compared to what John Farrell had been putting out there. Yes, they still need to sort out the pitching which will be a process of elimination. Those that don't make it will be used as trade bait in the off-season. Even though one commenter said the chances of bringing back Lester are slim, I think the Sox can put together an attractive-enough offer for 5 years to be in the running for re-signing a guy that like Boston. Then there is James Shields at 33 who could be lured to Boston on a shorter term deal if the Sox up the price per year. Then there are all of those prospects that can be used for a Cole Hamels who is the same age as Lester with 4 years left on his deal. And don't forget that Cliff Lee only has 2 years left & he could be used as another bridge until the younger arms are ready. It will be fun again to watch this team tonight. Perfect opponent in the Yankees.
