Big Night for Big Papi

The Red Sox beat the Astros 10-7, a nice comeback win after trailing 6-3. 6 of the Sox 10 runs were driven in by David Ortiz. Ortiz connected for 2 2-run homers & a very big 2-run double late in the game. His homers were #400 & #401 as a Red Sox, 3rd most of all time behind Williams & Yaz. The Sox bullpen picked up a poor start by Rubby De La Rosa who lasted only 4 innings. Wilson, Layne & Badenhop combined for 4 scoreless innings before Koji gave up a run in the 9th. Daniel Nava had a nice 3-hit night & Brock Holt kept his hitting streak alive, extending it to 10 games. A nice base running play by Cespedes to steal 3rd let Nava single him in for a tying run earlier in the game. Allen Craig will make a few rehab starts as he comes off the DL, but it will be nice to see how he lengthens the lineup with Pedroia, Ortiz, Cespedes, Napoli & Craig hitting 2 through 6. Craig's return means that Nava will have less playing time which is too bad since he has been swinging the bat well on this home stand. It's all about 2015 though. If & when Victorino is healthy, you could see Cespedes, Victorino & Criag as your outfield next year with JBJ & Nava battling for the 4th outfield position.
