Rob Bradford: Time to Turnover Roster
I agree. Rob Bradford from WEEI has a piece on-line today that says it's time for the Red Sox brass to raise the white flag & turn the Red Sox lineup over. After 78 games & another loss last night 8-2 to the Mariners this version of the 2014 Red Sox team has no traction, or as Bradford says, "Plan A is not working." Keep building blocks like Bogaerts, Bradley, Holt, Workman & De La Rosa. Jettison guys like Peavy & Pierzynski who may still have value to another team, most probably in the NL. I really can't stand Pierzynski swinging at the 1st pitch every time & making an out. He left 9 runners on base last night & he has only seen 44 pitches in his last 20 at bats. That means AJ is swinging on pitch #1 or #2 & pitchers know that. He is not your typical Red Sox batter who works the count. Give Cristian Vasquez a shot at catching in the big leagues. Try Cecchini & Betts & Middlebrooks in the outfield. Give Lester & Lackey a few turns off & try Webster & Renauldo. The Sox have nothing to lose at this point & these sneak peeks may prove valuable for future trades. With game #81 & the official halfway point of the season coming on Saturday in New York I agree with Bradford - turn the roster over because Plan A is not working.
