Missed Opportunity to Resign Lester
The Boston Red Sox brass missed a golden opportunity to resign Jon Lester this past spring. They offered Lester 4 years & $70 million which is way, way below market value. Almost a slap in the face to a guy that was willing to take a hometown discount to stay with the Red Sox. Now that Lester is having another solid year their chances of resigning the big lefty are getting slimmer every day with every start he makes. As discussed on The Baseball Show last night, why would Lester sign now before seeing what else is out there? Rumors are that negotiations are continuing behind the scenes with Lester's agents. But the Red Sox surely missed their best chance to ward off free agency with their ace. It would be a shame not to see Lester finish his career in Boston like Dustin Pedroia.
