A Spark of Life

Red Sox 2, Yankees 1. Jon Lester 2, Masahiro Tanaka 1. Our best beat your best. Ha! Ha! It was like deja vu & the 2013 playoffs all over again. A 9th inning homer by Mike Napoli gave the Sox the lead for good last night in a much-needed win over the stinkin' Yankees. Joe Girardi tried to get a complete game out of Tanaka & it costs him & his team. Unlikely David Ross got the scoring going for the Sox with a homer off Tanaka early on. The Yankees scored an unearned run in the 6th after Drew booted a ball at short. But Mike Napoli brought back visions of his homer off Justin Verlander in last year's playoffs by using the short porch in RF to land a ball into the first row. Nothing has changed, other than we beat the Yankees once. Mookie Betts got his call-up & he will be in the lineup today. I'm looking forward to seeing how he reacts to the big leagues. I remember seeing Mookie play for the Portland Sea Dogs just a little more than a month ago. Good for this kid. No matter what the standings it still brings a smile to my face, & many other fans too, anytime we beat the Yankees. All seems right in the world.
