When Is A Warning Not A Warning?
David Ortiz gets hit by David Price in the 1st inning. Warnings are issued. Mike Carp gets hit by David Price in the 4th inning & Price is allowed to stay in the game because the umpiring crew said it wasn't intentional. After a warning is given, I didn't know intent became a prerequisite. A warning is a warning & Price should have been tossed. Farrell & half of his coaching staff were tossed. Brandon Workman was tossed when a ball slipped out of his hand & sailed behind Longoria. All these fireworks made the Red Sox 3-2 win in 10 innings that much sweeter as the Sox win streak extends to 5 in a row. Jonny Gomes worked a 1 out walk in the bottom of the 10th. AJ Pierzynski hit a deep line drive to the triangle where Jennings & Myers collided, ball dropped & Gomes scored the walk-off run. Bogaerts & Pierzynski stay hot at the plate with multi-hit games. It was nice to see Big Papi lead the charge from the dugout after Carp was hit. A little fire from the big man is always good to rally the troops. These 2 teams really don't like each other. Before he was ejected Workman did a good job to limit the damage to 2 runs. The bullpen was excellent again. Always fun to beat the Rays & Mr. Professor "I'm smarter than you" Joe Maddon & the very annoying pitching coach Jim Hickey will all of his trips to the mound.
