Sox Hold On 4-3 in 12 Innings

As the WEEI blog said, the Red Sox are surviving at this point. We hope that better baseball, more consistent baseball, lies ahead. Sox outlasted the Cincinnati Reds 4-3 last night on a walk-off single by Grady Sizemore. With the Yankees woes of late the Red Sox are still in the pack like all other AL East team. None of the 5 East teams has been able to catch fire & all are bunched up within 1 to 2 games of each other through the first 6 weeks. Funny start to this season for sure. Doubront worked out of trouble to limit the damage to 1 run over 5+ innings. Pedroia stayed hot at the top of the order with a 3-5 night. Mike Napoli drove in 2 runs without leaving the infield, a grounder past the pitcher & a walk. It wasn't pretty in the 8th & 9th for Tazawa (2 runs) & Uehara (2 hits), but the Sox gained the win in the 12th on singles by Big Papi, Nap & Sizemore. Nice relief work by Badenhop, Miller & Breslow took care of the Reds in extras. The game today gives the Sox their 9th chance to reach the .500 mark. Fingers crossed!
