20-20 At the Quarter Pole

First quarter of 2014 is in the books. The Red Sox, like many teams, are in the pack of teams right around .500. As play begins today, the Sox are 1 1/2 games out of first. The old saying is that you can't win a championship in April or May, but you can sure lose one. Just as the Houston Astros, Chicago Cubs & Arizona Diamondbacks. Other than those 3 teams, the other 27 are still in the hunt as Q2 begins. The Red Sox start a series tonight, rain permitting, with the top dogs of the AL Central, the Detroit Tigers. The Tigers last trip to Boston was for their elimination in the ALCS. The Sox will miss Verlander, but they will face Scherzer, Porcello & Sanchez. Lester, Lackey & Peavy will have their work cut out for them. It should be an interesting series for the 2 best teams from the AL a year ago. I'm giving the Sox my vote for the series win at home.
