Tough Sledding So Far
Any pitcher knows that some days you will not have your best stuff, your best command, & you will not get the ball down. That exact control issue happened to John Lackey today as the Yankees rode 4 homers to a 7-4 victory over the Red Sox. A.J. Pierzynski hit one long ball for the Sox & Mike Carp had a nice 2-run single to bring the Sox within striking distance. But the Yankees limited the damage to 4 runs & went on to win. The Sox are in a win one, lose one phase so far in the early season. A good performance by Felix Doubront & a win on Sunday will give the Sox a split at Yankee Stadium before an off day on Monday. This will be a good challenge for Doubront to see if he can step up & deliver.
